Keeping your home clean can be time-consuming. Though you don’t have to do all the work at once, there is a multitude of things which are needed to be done. If you want to live in a clean and comfortable home, you should maintain it every day.
The most important thing in home is to wash your hands. 80 percent of all infectious diseases are transmitted by contact, both direct and indirect. Washing your hands can become the critical thing to do for your own protection.
Open the doors or windows to air out the house every day, even just for a few minutes if it's cold outside. Don’t forget to close everything afterwards.
Try to set up a "landing field" by the front door. This is a small area for incoming items to your home, which can help you sort all the incoming stuff. Keep your everyday items in the same spot. Put things back where they belong. This is not always a simple rule, but it is actually a very helpful one.
Make a list of things you want to get done and sort them by priority. Decide what must be done right now and what can wait a couple of days. You want your house to be moderately clean and tidy, but that doesn’t mean that every little thing has to be perfect. Do a five-minute clean-up before you go to bed. Once a week, perform a simple maintenance cleaning. Dust off all the dusty surfaces, vacuum the floor and clean the windows. Lighting can make a room look even cleaner.
Making the bed first thing in the morning will make it much harder to get back into the bed. Wipe your bedside table in the morning. Immediately hang items you wore, don’t just throw clothes on a chair. Put your shoes and coats away if you don’t need them. Spray your shower with cleaner each time you use it. Clean your toilet in the evening. The time you spend in the bath is probably the exact time an average toilet cleaner product needs to work before you can give it a quick scrub.
Keep the food out of your room. If you absolutely want to eat food in your room, bring the dishes back to the kitchen and collect all trash in the garbage bag. You may also have a trash can in every room. Don’t leave crumbs.
Wipe down countertop after getting ready for bedtime. Washing the dishes after every meal will help you stay on top of your kitchen instead of having it turn into a mess. The same also goes for taking out trash. If you need to take the trash out, place it near the door to get it in the morning. If you have a washer and dryer at home, do a little every day.
No one actually likes cleaning, but singing, humming or turning up the music can keep you in a good mood while working.
Starting a new habit is not hard. Try to do small things to keep your home dirt free and you’ll get rid of those long and boring weekends when you need to clean the entire house in a day.
