How to spot a bait and switch in real estate.
Buyers often find listings on unregulated websites showing amazing homes at unrealistically low prices — deals that seem too good to be true. When they contact the advertiser, they’re told the property just sold and is no longer available.
Then the advertiser quickly pushes completely different, lower-quality homes that look nothing like the original ad. This is called a “bait and switch.”
To avoid this trap, be skeptical of deals on unverified websites and rely only on trusted, verified listings from licensed real estate professionals.
