Real estate deals involve big money, which makes them a target for scammers. Fake emails, hacked accounts, and phantom online listings are some of the most common tricks.
Scammers often break into email accounts and wait until right before closing. Then they send fake bank instructions to trick buyers into wiring money to the wrong place. Others post fake rental ads with very low prices, claim they are “out of town,” and ask for a deposit before showing the property.
Never send money just because an email tells you to. Always call a trusted phone number and double-check bank details before sending any funds.
